We had a chance to sit down with Casting Frontier’s Crista Augustynovich, Representation Support Manager, who gave us the inside scoop on everything an actor needs to know about Casting Frontier!
What are some features of Casting Frontier actors should know about?
The public submission board allows actors to submit themselves on jobs that their agent/manager might not submit them on.
Actors have the ability to login to their profiles via the web or a mobile app and update their representation immediately. Representation has access to talent profiles instantaneously, unlike other systems that have a waiting process.
Our premium services, which are monthly or yearly, allow actors, agents and managers to make unlimited changes within an actors’ account. This would include 150MB video reel, MP3 voice sample, link to a web site and photo changes. When an actor has premium service, a photo or video can be added at anytime with no additional charge for a submission requiring immediate action. With Premium Profile Plus, actors can add up to 50 photos and change them anytime at no additional cost.
Actor-on-the-go! This application can be downloaded to an actors’ smart phone or iPad for immediate access to their account. Actors can now confirm, cancel or ask for a timeframe. They can also download sides and update their profile all with a click.
What’s the feedback you have collected from casting directors on what they want to see on an actors’ Casting Frontier profile?
This is an excellent question because casting is always asking to see more information within a profile. Newer headshots are always the number one resource being asked for by casting. This is the primary reason Casting Frontier offers unlimited changes on premium profiles, allowing talent to update photos at no additional cost. A video reel is very important. Casting directors want to see what type you are from the very beginning. Roles are rewritten and new parts are created every day. And casting happens at the speed of light. Casting directors want to find out how you look and sound on camera before bringing you in for an audition. This gives them an idea if you are more suited for the part and helps them bring you in for the right role from the very beginning. Special skills is a category all by itself. Casting directors can do a search based on the special skills listed on talent profiles. If an actor has not completed this section of their profile, they will not come up in search results. This is especially important in the commercial and print world when it could be one specific skill the client is seeking. Any actor that is serious should give their agent, manager and casting everything they need to help them book the job!
How should an actor maximize their membership with Casting Frontier?
The best thing an actor can do on Casting Frontier is upgrade their services. Premium or Premium Plus membership allows you to add more material in the hopes of securing a job with casting. With these services, an actor is giving their representation as much ammunition as possible to help book the next job. Another thing that all actors should be doing is updating their resume. The resume is important and when casting asks for actors only with television and film experience to be submitted, that’s the first place your representation is going to look.
